Survival of the FittestThe silence of the early-morning dawn reeked of death and desolation. The stillness was unnatural, a shade too eerie. Just a screaming silence as the sun slowly climbed into the sky for its usual rounds of another searing, hot day. But not yet. The world still had a layer of blissful cool blanketed across it; dew was still attached to the tall grasses, those pristine little droplets of life, silently free-falling to the hard-packed earth when the silent breeze whispered through the silent, grandiloquent prairie. No animals. No birds. No nothing. Nothing at all I should just make my own damn sound, I thought, grinding my teeth loudly,
